Minister to meet with LMC over violence rocking NPFL


Nigeria's minister for sports and youth development, Mr Sunday Dare,has confirmed he will be meeting with the league management company over the persistent violence rocking the Nigeria professional football league .

This is coming after the ugly scene that played out in the matchday 20 game between Abia Warriors vs Enyimba in Umuahia on Sunday .

The violence which left many Enyimba's fans and their chairman Felix Anyasi Agwu injured broke out after the home side missed a penalty in the first half,before the game was finally called off after 29 minutes.

The minister however took to his social media account to discourage any form of violence in football  and confirmed he will be meeting with the LMC over the issue in the coming days .

"The violence gradually engulfing the domestic league cannot go on unabated. There must be severe consequences for teams and their supporters to serve as deterrence. I will be meeting with the LMC shortly," he said in a tweet.

LMC Fines  Abia Warrior 5 million Naira over disruption in matchday 20 fixture against Enyimba in Umuahia The league Management company (LMC) have fined Abia Warriors 5,000,000 over crowd disruption of the matchday 20 fixture against Enyimba in Unuahia . The fine is expected to be paid by Abia Warriors within 10 working days in a summary jurisdiction exercised by the LMC. Abia Warriors will also play a minimum of their next three consecutive home matches behind closed doors with no fans before a possible review which can only be carried out if the LMC is satisfied that conditions which led to the disruption has been completely eliminated. Out of the 5 million naira fine ,Enyimba will receive 2.5 million naira as compensation for injuries and damages to property .
